QS Quacquarelli Symonds, together with the event host, United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) are proud to be organising the upcoming QS Higher Ed Summit: Middle East and Africa 2022 Hybrid Conference & Exhibition (formerly known as QS MAPLE) to explore “Innovation Enabling Environments: Redefining Education in the Middle East and Africa” on 1 -3 March 2022. Higher education in the Arab region and Africa is undergoing transition, and the region is preparing for further advancements. The QS Higher Ed Summit 2022 will discuss the latest trends and opportunities in the regions.
Unpacking several opportunities to build strong relationships and strategic partnerships, the three-day event will feature keynotes, debates, panel discussions, and case studies on the track topics of Education in an Uncertain World, Sustainable Research and Development for Societal Impact, Bridging the Industry Academia Gap, and Futureproof Learning Environment.

Welcome Message
On behalf of the entire UAEU community, I offer the warmest welcome to all participants in the QS-MAPLE conference 2022. Your focus on Innovation Enabling Environments: Redefining Education in the Middle East and Africa” will generate new ideas essential to forecasting and planning for higher education systems and programs that will meet the needs of diverse populations in a complex and developing region. Meeting the needs of all – their education and professional formation, the satisfaction of employers, and the demands of sustainable environments and societies – is far from a simple and small agenda. Yet there are common themes that affect us all, as outlined by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and as captured by the tracks of this conference. It is essential that the best minds join together to analyse and assess our shared and mutual interests to make recommendations that can be applied across the variety of contexts in which universities operate throughout the region.
As Chancellor of the UAEU, I am grateful to QS for assisting higher education institutions across the world to attain excellence and global recognition by organising innovative and engaging conferences such as this one. I offer my thanks to the College of Business and Economics for their work in bringing about this current event. I appreciate the efforts of all speakers and participants in the conference; you represent the diverse sectors that each hold a stake in higher education, and you are the community whose needs we serve. Your engagement is as vital to our purpose as it is vital to our advance.

باسم أسرة جامعة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، أرحب بجميع المشاركين في مؤتمر كيو إس مابل 2022. إن تركيز المؤتمر على البيئات التمكينية للابتكار: إعادة تعريف التعليم في الشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا سينتج أفكاراً جديدة ضرورية للتنبؤ والتخطيط بأنظمة وبرامج التعليم العالي التي ستلبي احتياجات مختلف السكان في منطقة معقدة ومتطورة. إن تلبية المتطلبات الخاصة بالتعليم والتطوير المهني، وإرضاء جهات العمل، واحتياجات البيئات والمجتمعات المستدامة – تأتي ضمن أوليات الأجندات في المجتمعات. وكذلك هناك موضوعات مُشتركة تؤثر علينا جميعاً، حدّدتها أهداف التنمية المستدامة للأمم المتحدة، وسوف تتناولها محاور هذا المؤتمر. ومن الضروري أن تتواصل العقول معاً لتحليل وتقييم اهتماماتنا المُشتركة والمتبادلة لتقديم توصيات يمكن تطبيقها في مختلف المجالات التي تعمل فيها الجامعات في جميع أنحاء المنطقة.
