Questions & Technicalities 1

Below are the answers from Mr. Cedric Courson which helped me to delve deep into the technicalities of my project:

  1. What led you to work or pursue your research in this field? Would you like to share your experiences with us and define your relationship with water? [tasnia] - I wanted to work in this field because when I started my studies in oceanography and astronomy, I wanted to more than just traditional research; I wanted to do more for the people. It is more about my relationship with doing good for people rather than my relationship with water.
  2. How do open source technologies that are out there to contribute to ocean research ensure quality control i.e. whether the technologies are used for good causes (not being exploited/misused)? [tasnia]

Easy to find ocean source technologies and tools. The reliability of data is very crucial and significant. Evaluation and stability of data should be considered and measured using professional instruments. Compare data using different instruments for better accuracy.

  4. How do open source technologies that are out there to contribute to ocean research ensure quality control i.e. whether the technologies are used for good causes (not being exploited/misused)? [tasnia]
  5. We did not have much time in class to have all the questions answered and this was one of them. However, a lot of my doubts got cleared when I got the opportunity to have a one-on-one discussion with him about possible prospects of the robotics team that I am working with.
