Learning by Design, Applied Learning Programme at Serangoon Garden Secondary School with Prof Nadya Shaznay

A Singapore Institute of Technology and Serangoon Garden Secondary School collaboration, sponsored by Design Singapore.

As part of Design Singapore Council's Learning by Design initiative, we began working with Serangoon Garden Secondary School at the start of the year. Our programme “Design Innovation with Critical Design Thinking” is designed to support teachers and students in the school's Applied Learning Programme (ALP). Students learnt about problem identification and formulation, ideation and experienced prototyping innovative solutions. The project aims to develop students' creative confidence and critical competence as they apply transferable skills using critical thinking and design thinking tools. We are heartened to learn that the programme has benefited teachers and students. We look forward to working closely with the school in Term 3 when we will get to mentor students in refining and testing their prototypes.
