Strategy for Shore Power in the Port of Rotterdam

The Port of Rotterdam is advancing its transition to sustainable energy with a focus on shore power, providing clean energy to berthed ships and reducing emissions like nitrogen and CO2. With shore power already benefiting inland shipping, the port aims to extend these environmental advantages to other vessel types. This strategy, a collaboration between the City of Rotterdam and the Port Authority, targets air quality improvement and noise reduction, aiming to make Rotterdam a leader in shore power implementation. The strategy encompasses incentivizing installation, fostering technical and commercial innovation, and aligning with international standards to ensure broad adoption and climate neutrality in the port.
