I've always been into designing and manufacturing and I'm curious to know if a guitar could be made with cheap materials without specialist equipment and bought in components (e.g. sets of universal tuning pegs, sets of guitar strings etc.) Hence, I reached out for materials around me and with the use of MDF, wood dowel and fishing wires, I created a guitar in a week's time. It was definitely a lot harder than I have imagined and I have learnt a lot during the manufacturing process. The final look of the guitar consists of 4 strings and the overall guitar look and sound could definitely be improved. However, I acknowledged that designers don't always succeed the first time. It takes a lot of practice, testing and prototyping to perfect a design.
Considering that a simple guitar can be made cheaply, I believe that it would be ideal for people in underprivileged countries to produce it. More prototypes are to be made to improve the acoustics but this guitar could possibly bring music to life in undeveloped countries.
