WWF HK commissioned MakerBay & Scoutbots to develop and manufacture a fleet of low cost ocean drifters, to operate in the 3G range. We built 110 drifters with our manufacturing partner Seeed Studio and distributed all over the HK drain system with our 11 school partners. One of our drifter went as far as Taiwan in about a month.
We later worked with WWF to develop a new generation of low cost drifter fleet that would be solar powered and connected by satellite - hence global coverage.
