It is predicted that by 2050, the ocean will have more plastic than fish. To combat pollution, we need to understand better how it behaves. Our surface drifters resemble the feared “sea nettle” jellyfish and provide an hourly, very accurate position. We have experience designing, manufacturing and deploying a fleet of 100+ such drifters to collect ocean data. We are also experienced in displaying the real-time position of 100+ drifters simultaneously on a public website with interactive maps and a parsable dataset.

This particular ocean surface drifter is designed to resemble a sea nettle, a feared carnivorous jellyfish to reduce the interactions with other sea creatures.
