"Once Upon a Time in Shaolin" box as inspiration for solar storm data storage

In 2014, Dutch-Moroccan Tarik Azzougarh (طارق أزوگاغ) better known as Cilvaringz released the secret album “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin” as a single disc artwork. In 2015, Pharma-entrepreneur Martin Shkreli bought the record, but he ended up in jail in 2018. In July 2021, PleasrDAO bought it for 4M USD.

The part that’s of interest to us is the box was made by London-based British-Moroccan artist Yahya.

Produced by RZA and Tarik “Cilvaringz” Azzougarh in Marrakech, Morocco, ”Once Upon a Time in Shaolin” includes unreleased music recorded by various Wu-Tang members over a six-year period. The 31-track double LP is packaged in a hand-carved nickel-silver box designed by British-Moroccan artist Yahya, along with a leather-bound book filled with the album's lyrics as well as each song's respective meaning, a gold-leafed certificate of authenticity and a pair of PMC MB2-XBD speakers worth over $55,000.

How do we protect data over a long period of time?

Wait, what? M-disc? Source

For additional security, it would make sense to put the storage media in a fire-resistant.

And radiation shielding for Carrington / solar storm events. A thin lead shield might be sufficient. for this application although imperfect.

So, what I have in mind in

  • m-Disc inside a
  • fire and radiation-resistant box

Designs and engineering notes later.
