It is so amazing to see the filmmaker Jean-Francois Even interpret and document the work of my father Tetsuo HARADA, inspired by the book I wrote in 2006:

This is it, my first full-feature film will be on the big screen on May 11th! My film “HARADA, Sculpting for peace” after 4 years of hard work, is finally available to the public!
And because good news never happen in isolation, I am also announcing that the film was also awarded “Best Film Award of London, WINNER OF THE BEST DOCUMENTARY AWARD 2022, Best Feature Documentary "Harada, sculpting for Peace" (Jean-François Even, Japan)”! So it is an awarded film that will come to the box office!
The Film will be projected all around France and of course, I will share with you the screening dates!
Premiere: May 3rd, 20:30 in Paris at the Saint André des Arts. You will be able to book your tickets soon through my producer Museo Films.
it was a real pleasure to work with Museo Films. They produce inspiring films. HARADA is part of a collection of other films about PEACE, other films you can also watch online!
Thanks to Museo, the film will be accompanied by a traveling exhibition so the public can also discover and touch the artist’s works.

Ça y’est, mon premier long-métrage sort en salles le 11 mai !!
Je vous annonce la sortie officielle le 11 mai en salles de mon film documentaire HARADA, SCULPTER POUR LA PAIX. Après 4 années d’efforts, le film rencontrera enfin son public.
Et les bonnes nouvelles n’arrivant jamais seules, je vous annonce également que le film vient de remporter le prix du Meilleur Film Documentaire aux Best Film Awards de Londres ! Ce sera donc un film primé qui sortira sur le grand écran !
Le film sera diffusé un peu partout en France et je ne manquerai pas de vous tenir au courant des salles et des périodes où le film sera diffusé.

Inspiration for the book “Harada”
For me, the inspiration to write the book “Harada” about my father’s work was the book written by Nathan Prochownik "MÉMOIRES BARBELÉES, Et après”. Nathan sold one of his old factory to my parents under market rate and gave my family a huge amount of creative freedom. it took more than 7 years for my parents to fix the factory and transform it into an art studio and home. Nathan was my grandfather figure and gave me the book he wrote with the explicit request to wait until I turn 21 to read it. He passed away before I read his book, and getting to know him after his departure changed me profoundly.
"MÉMOIRES BARBELÉES, Et après” Summary
Memoirs of a Jew who was born in Poland in 1922 and emigrated to France in 1930. In October 1941 he was arrested, sent to Drancy, but released after one month. His parents were deported in July 1942; he was caught several days later and sent to Drancy once more. In August his three small siblings arrived there, and they were all deported to the East. Prochownik worked in Ratibor and other labor camps in Upper Silesia. In October 1943 he was transferred to Blechhammer, near Auschwitz. In January 1945 he participated in a death march to Gross-Rosen, was transported by train to Weimar, and walked to Buchenwald, where he was liberated in April 1945.
